Again, not Wisconsin bankruptcy news, or Madison bankruptcy news, but big bankruptcy news nonetheless. As we know, Corona virus and Covid 19 has been causing a lot of financial damage to both individuals, small businesses, and large ones alike. The media is now reporting that JC Penney has filed for bankruptcy protection. Apparently, the retailer has 846 stores and is going to close 30% of them as part of a reorganization under Chapter 11 of the bankruptcy code. As an unfortunate sign of the times, the Zaleski Law Firm has been speaking to individuals and small businesses almost daily about whether bankruptcy could help them get out from under increasing debts caused by unemployment or lack of income due to the pandemic.
